VOCES8 was joined on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms Mindful Mix late-night concert by Ola Gjeilo, the Carducci Quartet and harpist Ruby Aspinall.
Their mixed repertoire programme featured music from William Byrd to Caroline Shaw, Radiohead and the world premiere of a co-commission between the BBC and VOCES8 from Roxanna Panufnik called Floral Tribute. Ola Gjeilo’s music and performances perhaps provided the glue to the programme featuring works for choir and piano as well as Ola’s exceptional improvisations.
Enhancing the atmosphere was incredible lighting at the Royal Albert Hall, which can be seen when the BBC broadcasts the concert on BBC4 television. In the meantime the concert is available to hear on BBC Sounds here.
